A true tale of woe… to the wallet.

Costco! It’s almost like a department store in that one can purchase a lot of stuff (and not necessarily food) in a small amount of time. Today is the day for Costco shopping and I have a list. I know exactly what I want to buy and where it is all located.

Upon entering the store, I am greeted by seasonal type items. These are not on my list but that doesn’t stop them from reaching out to me. I look at them longingly, but reluctantly continue my walk down the corridor. I glance around and right before me are almonds, which I need. I place them in the shopping cart and steer toward the vitamins, dried craisins and blueberries. It’s not going to take me long to get this shopping finished by staying strictly to the list, I think to myself.

Uh oh, I’m passing by the book section and it’s calling out for me to take a look. I can’t resist a fun book that my granddaughter will undoubtedly enjoy. I’ll just get one for her birthday, which is next month.

I now find myself over by the meat section as I want steaks to cook for my husband’s birthday. My, those rotisserie chickens smell good. Avocados, Tillamook cheese, rolls–they all tempt me.

Why did I walk all those aisles? I’ve got to get out of this store as my list is growing and not on paper.

Waiting in the check out line, I survey my cart and see that I’ve succumbed to impulse buying big time, which is hard on the pocket book. However, it will be so much fun eating and enjoying all these items. I’ll stick to the list next time, I promise myself.

Thank goodness for credit cards!
