Patience is a virtue.

It seems like every major patch brings an equal amount of two emotions: excitement and frustration. On the one hand, there’s always so much new stuff to see and do you just can’t wait to check it all out. This particular patch included things such as: talent respecs, barber shops, Stormwind Harbor, less time to level up from 60 to 70, a tracker for low level quests, mount/vanity pet “spells” (they no longer take up bag space), an event calendar, lost key and tabard vendors, and achievements.

On the other hand, there’s the agony of waiting for the servers to come back online and the headache of replacing every single mod you’ve ever downloaded. This time around, my particular server didn’t show its face until almost 7:00PM CST (it was expected to operational around 4:00PM). Unfortunately, I could only go so far as the character select screen before the game froze due to the server going back offline. I admit I was a little irritated, but it gave me a good excuse to round up a couple of my buddies and play some Mario Kart Wii for an hour and a half. After a crushing defeat by the computer players, I tried logging in again. This time the authentication server was down. So I surfed the web until about 9:30 and tried one last time only to find that my server was down yet again. At this point I gave up, watched some anime and went to bed.

At 6:30 this morning I finally managed to log in. Of course nearly all my mods were broken, but I didn’t care, I just wanted to play. In a couple of hours I managed to get a haircut, complete roughly 60 lowbie quests, and earn a couple of achievements. Was it worth the wait? Yes, I suppose it was.
