Rescue the princess… again.

October 18th, 2008 @ 10:31 am in Games, Tool-assisted Speedruns by Beast

TAS by Baxter & Morrison in a crazy 24:59.83 minutes.

One recurring theme of the Zelda franchise (and Mario too) is the need to rescue a princess in distress. It’s commonplace and boring nowadays, but back in the day, this was a fresh and exciting goal. Well, in the original Zelda after you had beaten the game once, you could go through the adventure again with new dungeon layouts and reshuffled item locations. Not only did this increase replayability, but enemies were a lot tougher the second time around too. All of these combined elements made the 2nd quest a daunting challenge and to see it get demolished in under 30 minutes is, well… insane.
